A closeup of the fresnel lens. I was enjoying a serendipity moment - a sunny day, a visit to the lighthouse, and just happened to be there one of only four days a year they have tours of the light tower!
I am from a family with many artistic talents - drawing and painting, cartooning, music and writing. But until I received my first SLR camera as an anniversary gift from my husband several years ago, I had not found an artistic form I was comfortable with. I find an almost instinctive creativity when I look through the viewfinder, but the precision involved in experimenting with composition, depth of field, range of view, motion and so forth seems to satisfy the logical side of my brain as well. Having lived in northern California, and now living in Colorado affords many opportunities for beautiful natural photographs, while giving me opportunities to experiment with the graphical and abstract forms also found in ordinary subjects.
